For the 35th annual meetings of the Inédits Association, the host organization, the Lichtspiel / Kinematek Bern, will focus on one of its mains strengths: its technical equipment and related expertise. This picks up on one of the main themes of the centennial symposium on 9.5 mm that it organized in 2022. Some of the presentations at that event showed how ingenious amateurs had adapted their equipment (projectors, cameras, etc.) to their own specific needs.
The Lichtspiel has many such devices, and its team will be happy to present and discuss some of them. Moreover, it has invited other organizations to bring examples from their collections. The 2025 Meetings will not stop at historical equipment, but will also examine how archives have had to adapt technical devices or build new ones in order to work with historical material. Finally, it will be an opportunity to see films made with such modified equipment or using a device specially designed for this purpose, or even using film in a particular way, possibly in a way that has nothing to do with cinema in the conventional sense of the term.
The conference will be in English, with French translation provided.
The number of participants will be limited to 65.
