This year, the Fondazione Home Movies is organizing and celebrating cinema with two major events that bring together enthusiasts of archival footage and found footage: the 34th INEDITS Meeting and its very own Archivio Aperto festival. These events are an invitation to dive into the fascinating world of amateur cinema and cinematic memory.
The 34th INEDITS Meetings will take place from October 22nd to 24th 2024, in Bologna (Italy). This annual event, organized this year by the Fondazione Home Movies, is a must-attend celebration of European amateur cinema. The theme for this year, Il cinema come gioco (Playing with cinema), highlights the creativity and innovation of young amateur filmmakers.
This unique event brings together enthusiasts and professionals through a variety of activities: practical workshops on creating soundtracks for archival films, film restoration, and film education through family movies. Roundtables and conferences will offer fresh perspectives on the historical and cultural significance of amateur cinema, with a strong emphasis on professional exchanges and project development. Additionally, special screenings of rare and restored films will be presented, providing a unique insight into the evolution of amateur cinema over the decades.
This year, the 34th INEDITS Meeting will be followed by the Archivio Aperto Festival, which will be held from October 24 to 27. Archivio Aperto is dedicated to rediscovering private memories, small-format cinematic heritage—private, amateur, experimental, and artistic—and its contemporary reuse.
The 17th edition of this festival, The Art of Memory, will honor cinematic memory and emotion, with a program dedicated to private memories and experimental films. A special tribute will be paid to Goliarda Sapienza, a remarkable figure whose work is imbued with reminiscences and sensations.
