In 2016, Ciclic celebrates the 10th anniversary of its heritage division tasked with safeguarding and promoting the audiovisual archives of France’s Centre-Val de Loire region.

The institution collected its 1,000th contribution in June and now archives over 16,000 amateur films. This collection has now been used to create an 80-minute film chronicling its achievements. Entitled Ces films qui nous racontent (The Films That Tell Our Story), it was first screened to the public on 7 July 2016 in Orléans, then in Château-Renault, Issoudun, and was used to open the Henri-Langlois Film Library (Cinémathèque Henri Langlois) season in Tours. Screenings are also scheduled at the History Festival (Rendez-Vous de l’Histoire) in Blois on 7 October, at the Bourges Cultural Centre (Maison de la Culture), and throughout the Centre-Val de Loire region in 2017.

Issoudun, the town where Ciclic set up its heritage division, hosted an outdoor exhibition from 10 June to 2 October 2016. Pedestrians enjoyed large-format (1.30m x 2.70m) photograms featuring stills from films made between the 1930s and 1960s. It also took advantage of European Heritage Days to welcome visitors to its facilities, organise workshops, and offer night-time “strolling screenings” along its village streets.

Ces films qui nous racontent (The Films That Tell Our Story) is available to any Inedits members who wants to disseminate it. Watch the trailer here.
