In 2009, the Centre National de l’audiovisuel (CNA) of Luxembourg organised the annual meeting of the association, in its premises in Dudelange. It took place from the 12th to the 14th of November. The theme was ‘Amateurs filming history’.
Two workshops allowed members to discuss this topic, thanks to a presentation of several films by archivists (Alain Esmery, Forum des Images ; Mirco Santi, Home Movies), directors (Anne Schroeder), and historians (Jean-Pierre Bertin-Maghit’s project, with films shot form the conscripts of Algeria’s War ; conference by Werner Wirtz). This reflection about amateur film as an historical source, was also an opportunity to review and watch “Free Fall” by Péter Forgács (1996). The theme was dedicated to movies chosen from the member’s collections. Finally, Sabine Lenk proposed a feedback on the recording of commentaries on amateur films (relationships with informants and the purposes of this work).
