Rencontres | The programme for the 36th Inédits Meetings

The programme for the 2026 Inédits Meetings explores the challenges of preserving, restoring and promoting amateur films, by bringing together collective memory, technological innovations and artificial intelligence, film-based practices, contemporary creation and environmental responsibility.

    Activities by category

    1. Round-table discussions

    – Two discussion sessions bringing together professionals from the fields of archiving, cinema and research:
    – Artificial intelligence in the service of archives: uses, limitations, and the ethical and economic challenges of AI in audiovisual preservation.
    – A review of contemporary film production: the revival of film-based cinema, laboratories, the passing on of expertise and potential collaborations with heritage institutions.

    2. Film screenings and sessions

    – The Collector of Memories: a documentary by Samuel Poisson-Quinton dedicated to Gilbert Nexer, an amateur filmmaker, his personal films and the memory of his village.
    – Members’ screening in ‘ciné-mix’ format: archive films on dance are remixed live by a DJ and a video artist, creating an experience that blends cinema, music and dance.

    3. Practical and technical workshops

    – Study and promotion of camera club archives.
    – An introduction to filming on 16 mm and Super 8 film.
    – Restoration and enhancement of sound in amateur films.

    4. Tours and city walks

    – Tours of the Cinémathèque de Bretagne: explore the workspaces, the film and equipment storage areas, and the future building, depending on the progress of the works.
    – City walks in Brest: guided tours based on the Cinémathèque’s archives to understand how the city has evolved since its destruction during the Second World War.

    5. Artistic performances and film-concert

    – Déroutes du geste: a performance combining dance, documentary research and archive films to bring to life gestures and practices that have disappeared in Brittany.
